admitting First decree level students into the Technical section, and in addition offering training for both diploma and Masters level in the Aviation sector.
Under the coordination of Madame Anna Cecconello, CEO, the re-opening ceremony saw the participation of political, industrial and academic authorities directly linked to wellbeing of institution. Speeches were made by various personalities, namely, the Deputy of the Walloon Region, the CEO of Skywin and finally the Director of the Technical Division of the Institution. The various speakers all lauded the initiative of incorporating University education with vocational training as is the case at the 15-year old institution. Besides, they each highlighted the substantial economic impact that this unique enmeshing of the two is having on the development of the region.
WAN offers courses in three main areas, namely, Aircraft Construction, Aircraft Maintenance and Flight Operations.
Aircraft construction has to do with the study, certification, manufacture and assembly of various equipment to be mounted on aircraft or helicopters. Indeed, renowned Belgian companies like Airbus, Boeing, Embraer, Dassault Aviation, Thales Alenia Space, etc benefit from their expertise.
Aeronautic Maintenance covers all the operations necessary for aeroplanes and helicopters to fly smoothly.
Meanwhile, Aerial Exploitation concerns all operations to ensure smooth take-off, flying, and safe landing. This is where WAN comes in with training providing skills for Operations Agents, Registration Officers, Baggage Handlers, Cabin Crew Staff, and more.
Due to its respect and incorporation of international standards and norms in its courses, and equally for being the only Belgian training Center authorized by DGTA (Direction Générale du Transport Aérien) WAN is being sought after by other training institutions or national aeronautic bodies for collaboration opportunities. So far, she has signed contracts with the Democratic Republic of Congo and Brazil.
It is delightful to note that one of the members of the faculty is a Belgian of Cameroonian origin. Mr. Fouda Bana Patrick, holder of a diplôme d’études spécialisées de 3ème cycle) en productique from l’Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB) is the Head of Department and Deputy Director of the Technical Section. He is also a member of the Directorate College of the HEPH Condorcet, as well Board member of the Haute Ecole since August 2015.
