To strengthen this sense of cohesion, the Embassy of Cameroon organizes regular meetings with association leaders to find the best way for the Cameroonian community to live together in Belgium.
Depending on the specific issues under discussion, these moments of exchange also involve:
- Students (particularly newcomers): For advice on everyday life and the best way to succeed during their stay in Belgium.
- Businessmen and independent professionals: Regarding the opportunities that Cameroon offers.
- Executives from the same professional corporation: Concerning partnership facilities in their sector of activity with their counterparts in Cameroon.
- The scientific diaspora (academics, researchers, doctors, dentists, engineers, etc.): For projects to be developed with hospital and university institutions in Cameroon.
These meetings, which Cameroonians themselves consider rich and invigorating, can only maintain their depth and intensity if “they take ownership of them by perpetuating them,” echoing the words addressed to them by Mr. Daniel Evina Abe’e, the Ambassador of Cameroon to Belgium.
To achieve this, two major pitfalls must be avoided:
- The pitfall of marginal powers.
- The pitfall of illusory fraternity.
